BYFA Football

Athlete Placement

Typical athlete placement starts with years of experience, age, and, weight.

  • Other factors may dictate a participant’s playing level such as demonstrated skills.
  • The cut-off deadline for age determinations is July 31st.


Coaches will evaluate all players through different drills.

  • Division 2: 1-2 years of experience
  • DivIsion 1: Usually more experienced players
  • Evaluations will take approximately 2 weeks. All players will begin evaluations at the Division 1 level.


Weight Limits

  • Players above the weight limit are considered double stripers. This means the player must be on the line of scrimmage as a lineman.
  • The double striped player cannot run/pass the ball at any time during the game.

12U

  • Division 1 – 140 LBS
  • Division 2 – 125 LBS


10U

  • Division 1 – 115 LBS
  • Division 2 – 100 LBS

8U

  • Division 1 – 95 LBS
  • Division 2 – 80 LBS


6U

  • Division 1 – 70 LBS
  • Division 2 – 60 LBS

BYFA Cheerleading

Athlete Placement



  • Cheerleaders are placed in a cheer division based on age as described in the divisional alignment above.
    • Siblings of BYFA football players will be given first priority to their sibling’s team.
    • Cheer siblings will be assigned to the same squad.


  • Friend requests are welcome, but are not always fulfilled. We will do our best to accommodate the request, but there are no guarantees.


  • Squads will consist of mixed ages due to the fact that we place siblings together on squads and with sibling’s football team.
